The Last of Us Part II warns: it may include “nudity” and “sexual content”

The expected Naughty Dog video game has received a new classification by the ESRB regulatory body, which remains "Maduro."

The Last of Us Part II has received an update in age classification granted by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB), the US agency responsible for classifying videogame content and assigning it a category with a minimum recommended age according to those contents. In this new assignment, the new Naughty Dog falls into the Mature (Mature) +17 category with certain novelties for the study.

First ND game to warn about "nudity" and "sexual content"

This is the first video game in the history of Naughty Dog to receive these warnings within the Mature +17 code, which is also received by both The Last of Us and the DLC, Left Behind, where there were no warnings of “nakedness” or "Sexual content."

If we stick to the way this agency works, that a videogame is assigned in a certain category does not mean that it will necessarily include the contents noted in its seal, but may include them. In the case of ESRB M: “The content is generally suitable for people over 17 years of age or older. It may contain intense violence, bloodshed, sexual content or strong language. ”

As DualShockers has advanced, the official portal dedicated to the game already has this new qualification, where it is clear that the title may include "referring to sex or sexuality" and "non-explicit samples of sexual behavior, possibly including partial nudity."

How you currently assign ESRB classification categories

According to the official ESRB portal, there are different classification categories to catalog each video game. On the one hand, E (Everyone, Everyone) and Everyone +10 (for people over 10 years old); on the other, T (Teen, Teens), designed for people 13 years or older. According to the criteria of the agency, M (Mature, Maduro) is the next step, located in 17 years or more, which is the recommendation granted for the expected title of Naughty Dog.

He could have received an even higher rating from the ESRB, however. AO (Adults Only, Adults Only) is the highest defined category of all, oriented to those video games whose allocation responds to titles with recommended content for over 2018 years.

The Last of Us: Part II will go on sale on May 29 exclusively for the PlayStation 4 family of consoles, a delay of two months from the estimated initial date, which was this February.
