The Sims – next-gen version with online & social components

Playfront

In recent years, the Sims have played in their own or virtual four walls, and there has been an online branch. The next generation will probably return to this model.

A few months ago, EA and developer Maxis confirmed that the Sims will remain on the PS5 and Xbox Series X. In the course of the current quarterly report, EA CEO Andrew Wilson once again went into these plans a little more closely.

“When we think of The Sims, I refer again to the reasons why we play the games: inspiration, flight, social interaction, creation, self-improvement, competition. Typically, the Sims really focus on fulfilling the motivations and inspirations, escaping, creating, improving, and not necessarily focusing so much on social interaction and competition.

But a few things have actually been true over the years. One is that the Sims community continues to grow, and with the breadth of social platforms, connections continue to be made to share what they do – in and around the game they play. And we saw this manifesto in The Sims Online, which was a more social experience for us. And we can also see that the competitive nature of The Sims is also increasing as people compare and contrast. Not a competition in the real sense, but how they create and how they use their imagination and what they can build up in these Sims universes. ”

So with regard to the next-generation Sims, Maxis continues to think about how the Sims were many years ago and how this will become part of The Sims' experience in the coming years.

"We are very excited. This is a game that really has no competition in its category to deliver and fulfill these motivations for the players, and we are considering the tremendous growth opportunities that we will have for many, many years. ”

However, there is currently no formal announcement of the next Sims game and must first be waited for.
