CD Projekt RED: "We don't know if Cyberpunk 2077 would work on Nintendo Switch"

Although The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was launched in the Kyoto hybrid, the studio has no plans to adapt its new production.

Geralt de Rivia premiered on Nintendo Switch with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt; He then repeated with Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales, the Gwent spin-off, also developed by CD Projekt and released by surprise in Nintendo's eShop. However, that does not mean that the new video game they prepare, Cyberpunk 2077, will be released on the console of the creators of Mario. At least that says John Mamais, leader of the study in Krakow, who in an interview with OnMSFT explained that the Poles do not plan to launch the game on the hybrid console. In fact, you are not sure if it would work.

“As far as I know, no [there are plans]. I don't know if Cyberpunk 2077 would work on a Nintendo Switch. It could be too heavy for her. However, remember that they did not think that The Witcher 3 could be transferred to the machine, but "somehow" they managed to adapt the product and place all the content on a single card, even the two major expansions.

How long will it last?

One of the unknowns is the total duration of the adventure, a difficult question to elucidate because it depends on many factors, including the level of dedication or the skills of the player himself. Mamais is not sure: “We are not sure … yet. We are finishing the game and there are different ways to play it. There are different character builds and it is not very linear. As you can play in various ways, it is a bit dangerous to establish a specific duration. How do you know? Especially when it develops in an open world ”with lots of additional content.

What is known is that the game will include about 75 street missions. It is a kind of secondary mission focused on the plot that does not contain grand cinematic scenes, but they have been designed one by one so that they all feel fresh and unique. They do not have procedural elements and have been developed with a wider team than those of The Witcher 3. According to Mamais, in the Geralt game many of these contents were created in the final phase of development, while in the case of Cyberpunk 2077 The process has begun before.

Although CD Projekt RED experimented with virtual reality, the company has decided to do without that element. The multiplayer, on the other hand, is still underway, although it will not be ready for launch. It is estimated that it will be published after 2021. The development team, meanwhile, works on polishing the gaming experience.

The initial plans were to market Cyberpunk 2077 on April 16, but the company issued a statement that revealed that they needed more time to realize their ambitions. The new departure date has been set for September 17, although the extra months will not serve to prevent crunch. The study admitted that they would try to alleviate it, but that at the end of the development it is very difficult to avoid overtime for employees, a revelation that has not been left unanswered, as a developer association has charged CD Projekt RED for that reason.
