Mario Kart VR arrives in London: details, price and video gameplay

The virtual reality version of the saga is seen in the English city after its passage through the United States and Japan. All known details.

Bandai Namco has taken its Mario Kart VR arcade machine to London after its first foray back in 2018. The Japanese company, which has been promoting its VR Zone for a few years in places like Japan and the United States, lands again in Europe to offer visitors of the English capital a virtual reality test of the Nintendo video game.

Located in the area surrounding the London Eye, in front of the River Thames, a temporary public stand has been installed on O2 Avenue where up to four people can play at the same time. The gameplay is in the first person and has similar graphic finishes as seen in Mario Kart 8 (Wii U and Nintendo Switch) while holding the Live Trackers with their hands, since the game is based on HTC Live. The playable characters are the following: Mario, Luigi, Peach or Yoshi, depending on the kart we choose. According to portals such as UploadVR, which have already tried this arcade in the past, it is “one of the most polished and accessible experiences we have seen” in this category.

For those who are in London and want to try Mario Kart VR, or those who plan to do so in the future, the price of each test is £ 7.95; around 10 euros. You can also buy tickets online through this link. The other two locations of this VR arcade machine are located in Mazaria Arcade, in Tokyo; and in various parts of Southern California, United States.

Present and future of Mario Kart

After the launch of Mario Kart Tour on iOS and Android mobile devices, the game has become one of the most lucrative titles of the company since it began its journey in this segment of the market; only surpassed by Fire Emblem: Heroes, which is the one with the best performance every month at the income level. Not surprisingly, Nintendo continues to update the title every week based on new content in a seasonally extended model in free to play.

Also, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is the best-selling video game for now on Nintendo Switch after about three years of life. With more than 22 million units, this successful iteration born in Wii U is becoming one of the biggest phenomena of the license and can cause an eventual sequel to arrive later than expected based on this extraordinary commercial performance. We do not know if Nintendo is already working on a hypothetical Mario Kart 9.
