Worms returns: new video game in 2020; first teaser trailer

The saga is back. Team17 announces the return of the popular turn-based military strategy saga born there in 1995.

Worms is back. Team17 has made it official that the popular saga, which established its own way of understanding the military strategy in turns in the videogame sector back in 1995, returns with a new videogame that we still have virtually no details about. The British publisher, one of the owners of the intellectual property, has presented a brief teaser trailer to celebrate the news.

Without confirmed platforms: Worms is back in 2020

After Worms W.M.D in 2016, the saga had been almost four years empty. PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC were the platforms chosen for that last iteration, which replicated the gameplay seen in Worms Armageddon with moderately positive reviews from critics and audiences.

This time there is no concrete information about what is to come, but the editor has already recorded a development that must be quite advanced if she wants to see the light in the coming months. "Prepare for Worms as never been played before," says Team17 in the tweet where they have announced the announcement on social networks. “Things are going to become reality in 2020; more details soon. ”

We do not know if this means that they will adopt a graphic style less inclined to animation and more similar to a realistic artistic style. In any case, in the coming weeks we will be clarifying all these questions.

Team17 continues in its expansion process and is establishing itself as one of the most renowned publishers in the United Kingdom. Last January they closed the purchase of the development studio Yippee Entertainment, known for their work in the remastering of Commandos 2 HD.

As of last year 2019, Team17 had more than 180 employees in two offices located in Wakefield, England. Apart from developed video games (The Escapists, Superfrog HD, Worms saga …) they are also responsible for editing and publishing games worldwide, such as Yooka-Laylee and its sequel or the Spanish video game of The Game Kitchen, Blasphemous.
