Fortnite: Legacy targeting aid removed

On March 13, 2020, the elimination of the Legacy targeting aid in Fortnite Chapter 2 became effective. We tell you what this means.

As we told you at the beginning of the week, today, March 13, 2020, the elimination of the Legacy targeting aid in Fortnite Battle Royale has been effective. We tell you what this will mean in the short and long term for Fortnite Chapter 2, which is in Season 2 of his Battle Pass:

Fortnite: Legacy targeting help is permanently removed

The original story is as follows: In a tweet posted on March 6, 2020 on FortniteStatus Twitter account, Epic Games announced its intention to completely remove Fortnite Legacy targeting help:

According to Epic Games: "With the improvements we've made to targeting help, we plan to remove the 'Use Legacy view controls' option on March 13." Furthermore, they added that "players who have the 'Use Legacy View Controls' option enabled when it is removed will see how their sensitivity settings will be maintained with the new system."

The reason behind the removal of this targeting aid for commanding players is that it is too effective, as it allows the detection of enemies that are invisible to the naked eye when camouflaged in heavily vegetated places, and even behind walls. . Check out, for example, this video from Twitter user OrangeGuy_YT:

The original intention of the system was to equate console players with those of PC, since a control system with keyboard and mouse is usually much faster and more precise in shooting games than one with a controller. However, given that Epic Games has noticed that several players have abused these aids, they have decided to cut their losses.

What impact will the removal of Legacy targeting help have on Fortnite?

Removing the Legacy targeting aid will change the game for many

Although it is not the default targeting system, nor is it the only help of its kind for Fortnite players using a controller instead of keyboard and mouse, the removal of the Legacy targeting aid will undoubtedly be a paradigm shift in the game.

Indeed, those who use it will have to get used to playing again using one of the other two aiming assists available: Linear or Exponential. Other options include not using help of any kind, or even going to keyboard and mouse as a control method.

If we used this control scheme, we can copy its settings by going to Settings> Controller options> Use advanced options> Copy of Legacy. In this way we will have a gaming experience as similar as possible to what we had before the elimination of this system.
