Mark Cerny, architect of PlayStation 5, has spoken about the process of developing the machine, while detailing the technical specifications that will be assembled. Beyond the elements of pure hardware, it has also mentioned one of the characteristics most demanded by players, backward compatibility. The Japanese company has previously confirmed this functionality, but it was not specified whether it would be compatible with other generations besides PlayStation 4. What it has said is that at launch many of the titles of the current system will work on PS5.
According to Cerny, when PlayStation 5 is released, the intention is that the 100 most played games of the previous generation are fully operational on the console. Nothing has communicated about the possibility that PlayStation, PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 titles may run on the new hardware. Xbox Series X, on the other hand, has included this feature, since they follow the line of Xbox One. In that case, the extra power will serve to offer graphic novelties that were not present in the original game, such as HDR in products from the first xbox.
