Digital Extremes will continue to support their Free-2-Play Action RPG beyond the next generation and plans to release it on PS5 and Xbox Series X.

That's what the parent company Leyou Technologies said, which currently has around 60 million registered players who will continue to be provided with new content. Warframe's support on PS5 and Xbox Series should ultimately help so that the franchise can continue to grow.

It says:

“With 2020 in mind, content updates for Warframe are planned for 2020 in the story quest The New War and another open world. We'll also have more Empyrean content updates and optimize the beginner guidance process and level. 2020 will be another successful year for Warframe, and TennoCon players will be announced in July 2020. ”

How exactly the PS5 and Xbox Series X implementations look like is not yet revealed. You will probably find out in July whether it will remain simple backwards compatibility or whether the game will benefit from the new hardware features.
