The Novato, California team belongs to 2K Games and has worked in the past on the Mafia license. They do not confirm that it is a new delivery.

Hangar 13, parents of Mafia 3, is working on an AAA video game that will inaugurate a new intellectual property. 2K Games' subsidiary studio based in Novato, California is working on its new production from Brighton, England, where they have operated in parallel for a couple of years.

The information comes from an official job offer from the company itself, in which they indicate their interest in incorporating into the staff a person who "leads the development of a new key license in Hangar 13". Experience in blockbusters based on an open world is also required.

There are no more clues. However, the possibility that years ago of seeing a hypothetical Mafia 4 is ruled out. That video game, if it is in development, would not be being made by Hangar 13 if they are currently working on a single title simultaneously. What is information is the records related to the Mafia brand published by Take-Two Interactive, the company's parent, last September.

Mafia 3 was one of Take-Two's big bets in 2016. The title left some lukewarm impressions, which in this house did not even reach a remarkable rating, due to the lack of success in executing many of their ideas.

To date, the studio has a total of four departments and more than 150 employees. After reporting layoffs in early 2018 – the exact number never transpired – in May 2018, the opening of a new additional studio in Brighton, England, led by Nick Baynes, was also announced. Beyond that, we know that they have been working on a new intellectual property since July of that year, but it has not been until now that we have known that it will be a sandbox and that it will have a high budget to enter the AAA denomination.
