Resident Evil 3 Remake: what was the biggest challenge of the study?

The developers reflect on the creative process for the long-awaited remake of the Capcom classic.

Jill Valentine is already in Raccoon City. Resident Evil 3 Remake has been released this April 3 on the market, so the story returns with new graphics and a new playable system. Given all these changes, the studio had to redesign almost all aspects of the video game, which has led to a series of challenges for developers. As they have revealed in an interview with Famitsu, one of the most important was to balance the difficulty. The meeting was held with Mitsunori Sakaki, from K2 Games, Tatsuya Mina, from M2, Kiyohiki Sakata (Leadworks) and Mashika Kawata, producer at Capcom.

The creatives wanted to balance the action elements with the most stressful ones, tied to the survival horror genre. Consistent with these words, Resident Evil 3 Remake has maintained the oppressive atmosphere of horror video games. The team is aware that the difficulty is high, especially if you decide to walk the streets of Raccoon City exclusively with the knife. Capcom advanced that it is possible to pass the game only with the knife, but maintains in this interview that it is almost impossible. They indicate that with normal zombies there is not so much problem. In this case, the real complexity is focused on the final bosses: the Dodge system will have to be mastered perfectly.

Nemesis Precautions

During the interview, the team believes that fans of the original game will try to attack Nemesis to get hold of the objects. However, they warn that it is necessary to be well prepared before facing the monster. Regarding difficulty, in normal you don't have to worry too much about ammo or resources, something that changes in hard difficulty mode.

Resident Evil 3 Remake has gone on sale on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The game includes Resident Evil Resistance, an asymmetric multiplayer mode.
