New World, the Amazon Games MMO, is delayed until summer 2020

The difficulties they are going through at Amazon Game Studios to carry out the game are the reasons given for this new delay.

The coronavirus crisis continues to plague the video game industry, and a giant like Amazon, which this spring intended to launch its first major self-produced game, could not be an exception. In this way, the MMO New World, exclusive to PC for its graphic capacity, will not finally appear until next summer.

The launch of New World was specifically scheduled for this May, but it will have to wait at least until August of this year, due to the difficulties they are going through in the studio in charge to continue with the development. Game director Scott Lane is targeting August 25 specifically to make sure New World arrives in top condition, and consequently the closed beta phase has been delayed as well, until July.

New World, the Amazon Games MMO, is delayed until summer 2020

New World marks the first major release from Amazon Game Studios, exclusively for PC, and it does so in a genre as complicated today as MMO. It is set on the island of Aeternum, where as a newcomer, the player has to either join one of the existing factions or create his or her own along with other players.

Coronavirus changes the calendar

New World is only the latest in an already long list of games delayed throughout this year 2020. From The Last of Us 2 to Wasteland 3, through Iron Man VR, there are few releases in the coming months that will arrive to date. Cyberpunk 2077 is probably the exception, since CD Projekt, who have been working for weeks at home, have assured that it will arrive on the scheduled date of September.
