Volition reiterates: continue to work on a new Saints Row

The developer explains that the remastering of the third installment is a separate project adapted by another studio.

The plans go ahead as planned. Volition is working on a fifth installment in the Saints Row saga, for which no official details have yet been released. However, this developer owned by Deep Silver already announced at the time that it was developing a new installment. Despite the silence, the company has clarified on Twitter that Saints Row The Third Remastered is in no way a substitute for the game at hand, mainly because this adaptation has not been directly developed by Volition.

"A new Saints Row game is in development by Deep Silver Volition," they clarify in the tweet. "The remastering of Saints Row The Third is done by Sperasoft." In August 2018, a report came out in which THQ Nordic – owner of Deep Silver and Koch Media – confirmed that Volition was working on the first title in the main saga since the release of Saints Row IV. Be that as it may, there was no reporting on platforms or an approximate launch window. It remains to be seen whether the cancellation of events and fairs caused by the coronavirus crisis will somehow alter the developer's and publisher's plans.

The remastering changes

Saints Row The Third Remastered will be released on May 22 on PS4, Xbox One and PC. This is not the version of the Nintendo Switch, which was limited to introducing all the content of the original game, but we are facing an edition in which Sperasoft has invested time and resources in improving all aspects of the title in its graphic aspect. Modeling and lighting have been modified, while creating new textures to provide a more satisfying visual experience.

Unlike other open-world games, such as Grand Theft Auto, Saints Row opts for a cocktail that combines realism, absurd satire and wild violence.
