F1 2020 announced: first details, release date and trailer

Like every year, Codemasters is the studio in charge of developing the official Formula 1 simulator, which comes with new features.

Codemasters has announced F1 2020, the new edition of the officially licensed video game of the 2020 FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP (renewed until 2025), as announced by the studio through a statement on its website. The company has revealed that the title will go on sale on July 10, 2020 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC (both in physical format and on Steam). In addition, the saga will debut on Google Stadia, the streaming platform of the technology giant. On these lines, you can see the announcement trailer.

The statement reads as follows: "In the season in which Lewis Hamilton could equal the World Championship record with seven wins, we will also celebrate the career of the current owner of the record", the German Michael Schumacher, who after a ski accident , suffered severe brain damage. F1 2020 will feature a Deluxe Edition starring the pilot, which will include exclusive content and three days of early access. Codemasters is preparing a limited edition with a steelbook box that will be available in select stores.

The Michael Schumacher Deluxe Edition will allow the player to embody the driver on the track, which will drive four of its most iconic cars. As if that were not enough, it will incorporate exclusive personalization elements and a "single celebration podium", among other things. These are the vehicles that can be driven:

  • 1991: Jordan 191
  • 1994: Benetton B194
  • 1995: Benetton B195
  • 2000: Ferrari F1-2000

What's new in this edition

My Team is one of the most outstanding novelties of the game. Along with career mode, this new modality will provide the option to become a manager. "We will give more flexibility in terms of the length of the seasons." F1 2020 will implement split screen with two players, new customization elements, which will also affect the playable options.

"Our core of players will welcome better and deeper gameplay with the addition of the new My Team, along with three types of configurable seasons that will allow them to choose their favorite circuits," says Paul Jeal, director of the franchise. Lee Mather, chief executive of F1 2020, stresses that they will continue to "innovate" and develop game modes that "bring" the experience closer to real sport. "The additions reduce both the difficulty and the barrier of entry," but without diminishing the simulation, according to the director.
