FIFA 20 is updated with changes in all its sections

The update not only focuses on game mechanics, but also touches the different modes, both offline and online.

EA Sports continues to work on its flagship video game, FIFA 20. The Electronic Arts football simulator, which went on sale last September, releases a new patch, which is now available for all PS4, Xbox One and PC players (The Nintendo Switch version is a Legacy Edition, so you don't benefit from the changes).

As announced by EA Sports itself, modifications are introduced that affect game mechanics and different modes, including Volta Soccer and Career Mode. On the other hand, some specific errors are also fixed. Below we show you the whole list of news and changes:

Game mechanics (general):

  • Upon losing possession and moving on to the Defensive Tactic tactics, the defensive team will no longer pressure the attacking team. This change aims to bring the tactic closer to how it is done in real football. As a result, the attacking player will have more space to prepare the attack after recovering the ball.
  • Forwards with the instruction Down to defend will not join the defensive midfield line if it is already made up of the maximum number of players allowed.
  • For formations of 4 defenses, the maximum capacity of the midfield line is 4.
  • For formations of 3 and 5 defenses, the maximum capacity of the midfield line is 3.
  • Now the ball carrier is more likely to stumble after a defender makes a normal entry.
  • The direction of the trip will depend on the direction from which the defense made the entrance.
  • During the trip, the player who has suffered the entry will no longer maintain control of the ball.
  • The effectiveness of shots and volleys at the first touch from the area line and beyond has been reduced.
  • The possibility of error of difficult first-touch shots and of all volleys has been increased: in this way, they will have less effect and will be less precise and fast.
  • The impact of the speed with which the ball is hit in the calculation of throwing error at the first touch has been increased.
  • The impact of the vertical velocity of the ball in the calculation of volley errors has been increased.
  • The impact of high attributes on the error reduction of difficult normal shots has been slightly reduced. This change only affects the error reduction that was applied when shooting with attributes between 91 and 99. In this way some more errors will occur when making difficult shots, which will result in a lower accuracy, speed and effect. This does not affect quality shots or petroleum jelly.

The following changes have been made to the attributes of distant shots and completion:

  • The attribute of distant shots had been updated to affect the results of shots thrown 20 meters or more from the target.
  • The objective is the exact location to which the ball is expected to go: it is determined by combining the directional entry with the shooting assist setting.
  • The completion attribute affects the results of shots made 17 meters or less from the target.
  • The result of shots taken at a distance between 17 and 20 meters from the target will now be affected by a weighted average of the attributes of distant shots and completion.
  • The likelihood of shots being diverted when made at a distance of 14 meters or more from the target has been increased.
  • The impact of this change is greater between 14 and 17 meters, with the maximum impact limit at 17. That means that both shots taken 17 meters away and those made from farther away will be more likely of deviating
  • Now, low passes and powerful low passes made from difficult angles will send the ball at a lower speed. This change only affects the passes that are made from a certain distance: it starts from 13 meters and increases until reaching a maximum impact at 18 meters, which will affect the passes made at that distance and from farther away. It affects all low passes that run at angles between 100 and 180 degrees and between 260 and 180 degrees, where 0 degrees is the direction the player is looking at. The impact increases from 100 to 180 and from 260 to 180, with the greatest impact at angles of 140 to 180 degrees and 220 to 180 degrees. It only affects situations in which the two previous conditions are true.

FUT:

  • We have corrected the following errors:

General:

  • By selecting the name for comments of a Pro created in Player Race and Pro clubs, it is now possible to turn the page through the lists of names.
  • When editing the players' kits through the personalization screen, changes occurred in other aspects of the player, such as their position or attributes.
  • The Go now option did not work in some modes.
  • When entering and exiting the equipment management screens several times in various modes, the screen was visually corrupted.
  • We have corrected a text error on the EA Trax screen.

Visuals:

  • We have made the following changes:
  • We have added 37 new faces.
