Final Fantasy VII Remake sells more than 3.5 million units in three days

Square Enix announces the first official sales figures since its launch on April 10, in the midst of the coronavirus crisis.

The story of Cloud, Tifa, Aeris, Barret, and Red XIII has written its first episode in Final Fantasy VII Remake, the reimagination of the Squaresoft classic. The Japanese company, Square Enix since the merger of the two companies, has announced that they have already digitally distributed and sold more than 3.5 million copies worldwide. As published on social networks, these numbers have been achieved in just three days.

"We are proud to announce that we have digitally distributed and sold more than 3.5 million copies of Final Fantasy VII Remake in three days," they reveal in a tweet. “All of us would like to raise our destroyer swords to say THANK YOU to all who supported us during the launch. We hope you are enjoying the video game ”. The title has gone on sale at a delicate time, as the coronavirus crisis (COVID-19) has directly affected many video game studios.

Dodging COVID-19

While companies like Sony have preferred to delay some of their products, such as The Last of Us Part 2, Capcom and Square Enix decided to go ahead with the releases of their respective video games, Resident Evil 3 Remake and Final Fantasy VII remake. In the case of the Japanese company, they took measures so that the players who acquired their physical copy could play from day 1. For this reason, they sent the physical units in advance.

Final Fantasy VII Remake will be exclusive to PlayStation 4 for a year, although no new versions have been announced yet. Nor has it been confirmed how many deliveries this project will comprise, the second part of which has already started. According to Square Enix, the following parts will take less time to come to light, since they already have resources that they will not have to build from scratch.
