In the last bars of the story, players notice a substantial change from the 1997 game. And it is that Zack, one of the members of Soldier and protagonist of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, does not perish on the field battle (at least that is implied). When asked about it, Nomura dodges the answer and does not offer details that can help understand why. "This is the biggest mystery we've established in this scene, right," he laughs. Nojima then adds that the Stamp dog appears in the area, although his appearance looks different (the reasons are not clarified either).

According to the screenwriter, when they decided what the remake plot would look like, they thought of this animal as a pet, because everyone in that universe recognizes it. Thus, they determined that the AVALANCHA group would also use it to secretly communicate with the other members. “By the way, the Stamp that you see drawn by members of AVALANCHA is really a design that I was in charge of. Normally I don't get involved in these designs, but I felt that this character would be very important, so I decided to draw him myself ”.
