The Ascent, ARPG cyberpunk for Xbox Series X, One and PC

A new Swedish studio bursts into the Xbox Inside with a futuristic ARPG alternative focused on action, customization and looteo.

Among the games shown on the Xbox Inside on May 7, we could find a novelty called The Ascent, a Diablo-style ARPG in a cyberpunk setting that stood out for its ornate futuristic scenarios. The action takes place in the arcology of the Ascent group, the most important megacorporation of Veles, whose systems have mysteriously stopped working. Incommunicated from the managers and with defense systems deactivated, the rest of the corporations, crime syndicates and street gangs rush to the colossal structure in search of secrets, wealth and equipment. In addition to external threats, the corporation's social ladder remains in complete chaos, with the working slave classes seeing the opportunity to organize a revolution and regain their freedom. As an agent, we must forge our alliances and decide the best course of action as we search for the causes of this sudden decline.

The fall of a colossus

The project, created by the newly minted Swedish studio Neon Giant, seems to stick to the canons of the genre. It promises action single or with up to four players, a large number of abilities and aesthetic customization options for our character as well as exotic loot to extract from the most powerful enemies. We will be able to create custom characters, well-refined assassins with precision abilities or perhaps metallic colossi with each part of their body replaced by steel and oil.

During the short video we could see some examples of weapons such as a rifle, a machine gun, flamethrower … or also various skills such as creating turrets or area attacks of different kinds, such as impact zones or wild machines that devour everything that is around him. In the technical section, the game promises 4K and 60 FPS on Xbox Series X, although it will also be available on Xbox One (and with Smart Delivery, so that we can enjoy either version with a single purchase). The PC Steam logo has also appeared.

The game will appear in 2020, on a date to be determined. You can also find here all the announcements made on the Xbox Inside on May 7.
