Out of the Blue Games is a Madrid studio that works on this production set in the thirties.

We go back to the past, to 1934. We are on an island in the South Pacific. After the disappearance of her husband, Norah launches into the sea in search of her and reaches these paradisiacal lands. It is Call of the Sea, one of the video games that were presented during the Inside Xbox. Although the video ran on an Xbox Series X, it can also be enjoyed on Xbox One and PC (in Game Pass from day 1). On these lines, you have the opportunity to view the official trailer for this work developed by Out of the Blue Games, a Spanish studio.

Through an article published on the Xbox website, Tatiana Delgado, director and co-founder of the developer, has reflected on the proposal. "Honestly, it feels like our deepest secret has been revealed," he says. It is "the first track that will take you to the coast of an unnamed island in the South Pacific." The creative hopes that soon we can immerse ourselves in this "incredible adventure". According to Delgado, they have worked on the title for a year, although they are still working on it ahead of its release. "Our goal is to offer you this wonderful mystery before the end of the year."

Who are the developers?

Out of the Blue is a completely new studio made up of twelve developers who work from Madrid. Although most are Spanish, other team members come from Greece and the United States. "We have previously worked on a handful of titles before joining forces, including Red Matter, Metroid: Samus Returns, Deadlight, Gylt, Celeste, Guacamelee 2 and Spacelords."

The actress behind the protagonist is Cissy Jones, one of the interpreters of Firewatch. Delgado highlights his ability to create a strong presence with his voice, since he manages to reproduce the spectrum of emotions of the character and make him feel alive. "That is what we wanted for our protagonist Norah, because we wanted you as players to take care of her and share her emotions." For its director, the love relationship between the two characters has rarely been reflected in video games.

Call of the Sea is an adventure video game with puzzles. Why have they opted for that type of game. Tatiana Delgado remembers that the team has grown with products of that style. Games like Firewatch, Subnautica, Soma or Red Matter have been an important source of inspiration. It is not a horror title, although the developers have also been inspired by the work of H.P. Lovecraft, a master of the genre in literature. “We could say that we have been inspired by the way Lovecraft tells some of her stories. We want you to solve the mystery that we have created. ”
