PS5: Sony announces PlayStation Studios, the brand that will encompass all its own games

The Japanese company will use this seal since the launch of its new generation console, which will take place at the end of the year.

A new generation of consoles is on the way. With the arrival of PlayStation 5, Sony will release a new label. Under the umbrella of PlayStation Studios will be all those projects developed by their internal studios, as well as the titles managed directly by them. In addition to the logo, the Japanese company has created a video introduction that will appear when you start all your games.

As can be seen in the clip (news headline), saga characters such as Uncharted, LittleBigPlanet, God of War, Ratchet & Clank, Horizon: Zero Dawn and The Last of Us are the absolute protagonists of the video. "We are very excited about this," explains Eric Lempel, senior vice president and head of marketing for Sony Interactive Entertainment.

“During the last years (and even the past decade), the strength of the titles that come from our studies has been reinforced more than ever. We have been thinking about how to unite all these great games under one brand, "he continues. According to Lempel, the objective is "to make consumers understand" that when they see that logo they will be faced with a "robust and innovative" experience.

Variants for different media

The manager assures that they have created various animations for different media: "There are different animations, shorter ones, that will be added to the trailers", but also to "advertising". It will also be present in the game box and on the discs. "This brand will feature in well-known franchises, but also in franchises that we have yet to explore." However, neither The Last of Us Part 2 nor Ghost of Tshushima will include this logo, since it will not be ready until the launch of PS5.

The brand will not be exclusive to video games developed by the in-house studios. This being the case, titles designed to order and under the direction of Sony will also benefit from the new branding. “If our studios manage the production of those games and work with an external developer, it will continue to be under the umbrella of PlayStation Studios. It does not mean that the studio is our property ”, he clarifies.

With this movement, the Japanese company wants all the products they manage to share their own seal that serves to instantly identify the games.
