Fallout 76 draws its roadmap for 2020: new season system

Bethesda looks to the medium term and announces what is coming in the coming months, which goes through a system of seasons with changes in the challenges.

Fallout 76 will be free-to-play for the next few days on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam, as Bethesda itself has announced. Far from news of the video game coming to an end, the North American company has shared its plans for 2020 on its website. Among the novelties that will come from here to the end of the year is the incorporation of a new system of seasons.

"We launched the free update Wastelanders a few weeks ago," the statement begins. “Appalachia's appearance has changed permanently as we knew it. With this series of game enhancements behind us, we are working hard on future content, which we plan to add to Fallout 76 for the rest of 2020, ”they continue. The developer promises interesting news, although this time they will focus on one of them.

"We are going to completely change our challenge and reward system" to adopt a season format. Bethesda informs that they will incorporate new features, such as the C.A.M.P Shelters. or the Legendary Perks. According to the entry, they are preparing new events (Hunt for the Hunter of Tesos and A Colossal Problem), although some of the community's favorite events will also be revisited (Fasnacht and Meat Week). There will be new content from Daily Ops and expeditions, as well as a story arc that will last for a year and that will narrate new adventures starring the Brotherhood of Steel, which has once again set eyes on Appalachia.

This is the new season system

As for the seasons, Bethesda says they offer their own perspective on the season pass system, which has been specifically designed for Fallout 76. The first season will arrive in update number 20 as part of the summer season. “All players will have full access to a single progression path. This means that everyone works around the same rewards throughout ”that entire period. When the new update is installed, players will be able to click on a new menu option to access a season progression screen. It has a board game format, so players will start from square 1 and try to reach rank number 100.

The idea is to complete ingame activities and accumulate points, which will help the player to rank up. Every time you reach a new rank, you will unlock a new reward, which can be a unique outfit, a camp item, a skin, consumable items, perk card packs, atoms, etc.

That the challenge system changes does not mean that the challenges themselves will disappear. In fact, completing daily and weekly challenges will be the way to rank up. Of course, they will be modified to make them more direct and easier to complete. They will also modify the number of challenges, both daily and weekly. If you join the late season, you will be able to advance in rank if you pay 150 Atoms (the in-game currency), but Bethesda stresses that it is completely optional.
