Take-Two (GTA, Red Dead, BioShock ...) will launch 93 games in the next 5 years

The North American publisher has presented its forecast for the following fiscal five years; of all of them, many will be of category AAA. There will be new IPs.

Take-Two Interactive revealed during the presentation of the financial results for the past fiscal year the company's roadmap for the next five years. In what is an unconventional movement, the president of the publisher, Karl Slatoff, has declared that they plan to put a total of 93 video games on the market between now and March 31, 2025. Let us go on to see the breakdown of the titles, where there are Rockstar Games, 2K Sports, Private Division, Socialpoint and associated works of third companies.

63 games will be "core"; there will be 46 new intellectual properties

Take-Two's future lies in renewing licenses and betting on new intellectual properties. This is taken from a document that seems to already have a clear horizon. According to the New York company, 63 of those titles (always referred to as SKUs; therefore, each game is considered on each platform) will be of the “core” type, although not necessarily all within AAA parameters.

17 will be mid-core or arcade, while 13 releases will be casual. Likewise, 47 videogames will be from sagas that we already know, so it is to be expected that licenses from their main pillars (Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption, Borderlands …) can see the light of this next five years; at least some of them. On the other hand, 46 titles will belong to new intellectual properties.

It has also been revealed that 72 of the 93 video games will be released on consoles, so Take-Two continues to consider domestic gaming platforms as its main focus of attention; Of that amount, 7 titles will have a version for mobile devices (in current times, NBA 2K has been that license) and 21 will be exclusively for smartphones. The last detail to highlight is that 67 games will be paid and 27 will be under a free to play business model.

What do we know is going on within Take-Two?

Leaving that information aside, let's move on to the games we know officially in development under the Take-Two label. On the one hand, the new BioShock and the new 2K Silicon Valley project (31st Union; Michael Condrey). Also, new deliveries of 2K Sports and Kerbal Space Program 2, the latter delayed until 2021. Also releases like BioShock: The Collection, Borderlands Legendary Collection and XCOM 2 Collection on Nintendo Switch. On the other hand, the recently announced Madia Definitive Edition (with a remake of the first part in August). We do not know if there will be new GTA releases over the next 5 years.
