Assassin's Creed Valhalla will connect storyline with previous games

Ubisoft has taken note of past criticism and will not only take back old mechanics, but will also connect the dots between deliveries.

Ships set sail from 9th-century Norway to war-consumed England. That is the premise of Assassin's Creed Valhalla, the viking game that Ubisoft Montreal (along with 14 supporting studios) are designing. One of the complaints that has resonated the most in recent years is that the saga was losing its essence. However, since Ubisoft they have taken note and will implement mechanics from the past (such as instant death with the hidden blade or tactical stealth). In an interview with the Official PlayStation Magazine, narrative director Darby McDevitt has made it clear that the title will also establish a narrative bridge with previous works.

"It feels like there's not a moment wasted in the video game," suggests its writer. According to his words, each discovery and each twist of script are at the service of "a great purpose." At that point, he alludes to the traditional Assassin's Creed fan, as he believes that they will be tickled with some of the elements that will be displayed on the screen. “There are quite a few moments that blow your mind, because you think, 'Oh, that's how this connects like that. Okay, it's great, '”he reflects.

Eivor, after all

A crucial part of the narrative falls on its main character, the Viking or the Viking Eivor. The French company has promised that regardless of gender, "both options are equally valid." In this way, there will be no difference between one version and another of the character. "You will always feel that Eivor is Eivor," he says in another interview, which we collected at FreeGameTips.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla will go on sale in late 2020 in the present and next generation. That means that players will be able to enjoy the Eivor adventure on Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PS4, PS5, PC and Google Stadia. One of the confirmed features is that the title will use Smart Delivery, so those who buy the product on Xbox One will have the opportunity to update the game to the Xbox Series X version without paying an additional euro. At the moment, it is unknown if something like this will happen with Sony platforms.
