ONCE organizes an inclusive videogame competition on disability

It will organize it together with the National Pole of Digital Contents of Malaga, with the aim of raising awareness about the importance of accessibility.

Fundación ONCE and the National Pole for Digital Content in Malaga have joined forces to organize the Disability Serious Game contest, which will promote the development of inclusive video games focused on the subject of disability. The objective is to try to "sensitize, raise awareness and normalize the perception" that citizens have about the group of people with disabilities, as discussed in a press release.

As reported, all ideas will be valued and go through various filters. First, a committee will study the treatment of disability and the integration of accessibility, as well as innovation and creativity of the idea in terms of the argument and the functionalities of the title. The composition of this committee will be established with people from both the ONCE Foundation and the National Pole of Digital Contents in Malaga.

To register, simply access the following web page. All participants must attach a document with the launch of the game, which includes its characteristics, as well as a second document that works as an art Bible that introduces character sketches, setting, etc.

The selected ideas will be made public on June 19, but it will be between the 22 and the 24 of that same month when the final public voting period opens. Hence the winning idea, which will be announced on June 26. The prize will be endowed with 2,000 euros and the ONCE Foundation reserves the right to develop the idea together with the participating person or company.

Many studies are becoming aware of the need to implement accessibility options. Microsoft did it with Gears 5, while Naughty Dog has implemented more than 60 options in the expected The Last of Us Part 2.
