PlatinumGames clarifies it: they will not stop developing games for other companies

Although their goal is to secure their intellectual properties through desktop publishing, they will not stop working with other publishers.

That PlatinumGames has focused its strategy on publishing its own video games is something that the company has publicly explained on numerous occasions. The Wonderful 101 Remastered and the future Project G.G. it is the proof of this new line of action. However, the ambition of not depending on third companies when developing their projects does not eliminate the possibility of continuing to make video games for them. At least that ensures PlatinumGames in a recent update of its official blog.

"We are already thinking about self-publishing our next games," writes Kenichi Sato, CEO of the studio. "But don't take this as not going to work with other publishers too. This is going to continue like this. ” Not surprisingly, PlatinumGames still has several productions underway with companies like Nintendo or Square Enix. Bayonetta 3 is out on Nintendo Switch, while Babylon's Fall is slated for PlayStation 4 and PC. This last project will receive new information throughout the summer, if the plans have not changed since they presented the most recent trailer.

They deny the purchase rumor

Xbox Game Studios has developed a business acquisition strategy to strengthen its internal study network. Ninja Theory, InXile Entertainment, Double Fine or Obsidian Entertainment have been some of the studios that have become part of Microsoft. So the rumors about a possible purchase of PlatinumGames have continued. Be that as it may, Atsuhi Inaba, leader of the study, has stated that he is not aware that the Redmond people are interested in them. The manager has stressed that they do not really know what is being talked about within Microsoft, but that the acquisition would not make sense at the moment, since his company is pursuing a very specific objective: to publish its own video games.

PlatinumGames and Microsoft worked together on Scalebound, an action game that never saw the light of day.
