Naoki Yoshida will remain linked to Final Fantasy XIV and is not directing Final Fantasy XVI

The Japanese creative denies the rumors that have been playing in recent weeks; He will continue his current project for several more years.

The new generation drums thunder and the rumors skyrocket. Square Enix, which has just released Final Fantasy VII Remake (the first part), looks at a horizon from which there are still many points to clarify. One of them is Final Fantasy XVI, the new installment of the saga, which has not yet been officially announced (nor has any detail been unofficially revealed). However, bad tongues said that Naoki Yoshida, director of Final Fantasy XIV, had been chosen as director for the new chapter. It has been Yoshida himself who has denied it.

According to the director, he will still be in charge of the fourteenth installment for at least a couple of years, something that is not surprising, given how well it is working in the market. This online title has not stopped releasing expansions and new content. Also, in an interview with FreeGameTips, Yoshida made it clear that he still wanted to do more expansions. “We have not reached our peak of players, nor sales,” he commented in the aforementioned interview. “We still have a large margin for growth and we want to continue to grow with determination. It is very rare if we stop to think about when all this will end. ”

Phoenix Bird: from failure to success

Final Fantasy XIV didn’t start off on the right foot when it originally came out. Aware of the resounding failure, Square Enix gave the direction to Naoki Yoshida, who worked the following year to redefine the project from top to bottom. In perspective, the master move has come out in the best of ways, as it is currently one of the most renowned and honored MMORPGs.

The future of Square Enix goes through a completely new chapter of its star saga, in addition to the following installments of Final Fantasy VII Remake, whose second part is already underway.
