Call of Duty: Modern Warfare introduces a message in support of the Black Lives Matter

Infinity Ward replaces loading screens with a statement in which they openly position themselves against racism.

Infinity Ward has transferred its words to the video game. The Activision developer, authors of the recent Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: Warzone, recently stated that they would take steps to ban racism from their titles, while delaying the start of Season 4. After the murder of George Floyd at the hands of the police, the United States has risen up against systemic racism against the African American and black community. Infinity Ward has now updated Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and placed its message in-game.

“Our community is going through very difficult times. Once again, the systemic inequalities of our community return to the fore. Call of Duty and Infinity Ward are on the side of equality and inclusion. We reject the racism and injustice that our black community suffers. Until there is a change and the lives of black people really matter, our community will not live up to what is expected of it. Black Lives Matter. “

Measures against racism

As confirmed by The Verge, the message appears when launching Modern Warfare on PlayStation 4. Also on loading screens or when you switch to a separate mode like Warzone. FreeGameTips has verified that they also appear in the PC version, as can be seen in the illustration above. The American developer not only has a crusade against cheats, but will also develop a zero tolerance policy against racism that starts right away.

First, they will allocate resources to monitor messages with racist content, so they will add additional systems to report from the game itself. Filters and restrictions on name changes will be implemented and the reporting system will be evaluated and strengthened. Those who reoffend will have more opportunities to be permanently expelled.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare went on sale in 2019 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Although there was no launch battle royale mode, Infinity Ward released Call of Duty: Warzone a few months ago, on the same platforms and as a standalone product.
