Tim Schafer, now at Double Fine Productions, will participate in this virtual edition as a speaker. Other additional names are also announced.

Gamelab Barcelona 2020 Live has announced Tim Schafer as speaker for the new edition of the congress. This has been confirmed by the organization in a press release, which has been used to confirm new personalities who will join the talks. Schafer, one of the figures of the old LucasArts (Monkey Island, Maniac Mansion, etc.) and current head of Double Fine Productions, has been announced along with Debbie Bestwick (Worms), Nicolaj Nyholm (Blast Pro Series) and Kiki Wolfkill (Halo 4, Halo 5).

In this XVI edition, the founder of Double Fine Productions will participate in one of the presentations. He is an industry veteran who worked for over a decade in Lucasfilm’s video game division. Currently, his studio has become part of Microsoft’s internal study structure, Xbox Game Studios, reinforced to face the future of the platform. For a few years, Redmond’s have acquired companies such as Obsidian Entertainment, InXile, Playground, etc.

More than three new additions

Debbie Bestwick, meanwhile, has more than 30 years of experience and is the co-founder and CEO of Team17, a company that has grown to a value of more than £ 230m. Among its outstanding titles is the Worms saga, but Bestwick also has important honorary awards: on the one hand, a Golden Joystick for its “exceptional contribution to the video game industry in the United Kingdom”; she was also named a Member of the Order of the British Empire.

Another of the personalities who will offer his vision is Nicolaj Nyholm, investor and consultant in esports videogame titles and leagues. He is also CEO of RFRSH Entertainment, the company responsible for Blast Pro Series, an electronic sports tournament. As if that were not enough, Kiki Wolfkill, the executive producer and head of transmedia at 343 Industries, will be a speaker at Gamelab 2020 Live Barcelona. Among his featured projects are Halo 4, Halo 5, Halo: Nightfall, etc.

Along with all of them, Gamelab has announced more additional speakers: Nigel Lowrie (Devolver Digital), Alex Russman (head of Alliance Development at Enjin), RaĂșl Rubio (Tequila Works), Eduardo Aparicio (Humble Games) or specialized journalists Chris Morris and Brian Crecente.

Gamelab 2020 Live Barcelona will take place between June 23 and 25 in digital format, a situation forced by the coronavirus. The presentations will be free for all those who register before the beginning of the congress.
