PS5 event | Sony explains why it will be seen in 1080p and 30 FPS; recommend headphones

Sony will show the first PlayStation 5 games this June 11 after the delay to let the Black Lives Matter movement take center stage.

Sony has updated the presentation date of the first official PS5 games: this Thursday, June 11, at 10:00 p.m. (CEST). From the official portal, the company’s senior director of communications, Sid Shuman, has stated that “this prerecorded program will be broadcast in 1080p at 30 FPS” and not at 60 FPS, as many could have expected, given that much of his team he is teleworking under the security measures decreed by the danger of the coronavirus.

Of course: “as expected, the games you will see on Thursday will look much better when played on PS5 with a 4K television.” The message also transcends the recommendation to “watch the broadcast with headphones, if possible” because the program will arrive loaded with “a lot of amazing audio” that surely we will not appreciate with the speakers of a mobile phone or computer, as they indicate.

More than an hour long: first PS5 games on June 11

The Japanese company, which had originally planned the broadcast for June 4, decided to postpone the event to remain silent and allow “other voices to be heard at the moment”, in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement, which claims to end police violence in the United States against the black race; now more than ever after the death of George Floyd for this reason.

At the moment, we do not know the exact duration of this presentation event, only that “it will last a little over an hour”; what is certain is that there will be first party games, presumably some as part of the range of PS5 launch games this Christmas. Studios like Bluepoint Games, responsible for Shadow of the Colossus, are working on a new game for PS5 and have aroused great expectation by dropping that we will see something of theirs at the event. Just like Guerrilla Games, parents of Horizon: Zero Dawn.

Meanwhile, in this article we tell you about all the confirmed games for now for PlayStation 5. In this other report we review everything we know about the console.
