League of Legends (LOL): Patch Notes 10.12; changes and news

The update makes it easier to use some runes and modifies the balance of certain champions to offer a fairer gaming experience.

Two weeks have passed since the last League of Legends update, which means a new patch has already been released. As planned in the calendar, version 10.12 is available for download. Most notably, Riot Games has modified some of the less-used runes so that they can be used by champions. They acknowledge that certain runes were complicated to activate and unintuitive. On the other hand, the summoner spells have been touched, since they have realized that Ghostly was in a situation similar to the aforementioned runes.

In addition to champion settings (Akali, Brand, Viktor, and Xayah), the power of characters like Trundle and Varus is reduced. The objective, in these cases, is “to take them to an intermediate point”. As if that were not enough, changes are implemented and some wild bear bugs are fixed. You can read the full patch notes below.

League of Legends patch 10.12

Champions

Akali

Q damage increased.

Akali is loaded with cold steel and a lot of competitive potential, but the truth is that we still do not see her in professional games. Since it is normally limited by the professional scene, we are going to increase its basic effectiveness and improve the damage skill it uses the most.

Q – Plenum with five points

  • DAMAGE 25/50/75/100/125 (+0.65 bonus attack damage) (+0.6 ability power) ⇒ 30/55/80/105/130 (+0.65 attack damage total) (+0.65 ability power).

Brand

Increases mana restoration by eliminating burning enemies.

We increased Brand’s Mana Restoration in the hope that it will improve his status on Central Street without overpowering his support power. This change, aimed exclusively at the Central Street Brand, is more drastic than usual and we hope to see how viable it becomes.

Passive – Cloud of Fire

  • MANA RESTORATION BY MURDERING ENEMIES ON CALLS 6-18 (levels 1-18) ⇒ 20-40 (levels 1-18).

Cassiopeia

Basic life and armor reduced; increases magic resistance.

This snake is camping both on the upper and central streets and, with these changes, our main objective is that its power progresses less on those streets. With that said, we’re going to smooth out the weakening to Cassiopeia in the center street and improve its magic resistance.

Basic statistics

  • LIFE 575 ⇒ 560.
  • ARMOR 20 ⇒ 18
  • MAGIC RESIST 30 ⇒ 34

Fiddlesticks

Increases damage reduction against minions of W.

Fiddlesticks’ latest set of upgrades has paid off more than we intended, so we’re going to cut its power around minion surges, while being careful not to run away from the upper street.

W – Plentiful harvest

  • MIND DAMAGE REDUCTION 40% ⇒ 50%

Senna

Attack Preparation Time Bug Fix. Passive Mist Spectra spawn chance increased.

Senna ADC has been quite weak since the last 10.6 changeset, so we are going to give you a chance to get more benefits from removing minions. We also fixed a bug that caused the critical attack preparation time to be higher, implying an upgrade to critical item sets.

general

  • BUGFIX Fixed a bug that caused Senna’s critical attacks to not properly reduce attack preparation time.

Passive – Absolution

  • SPECTRUMS OF MIST SPRAY CHANCES 1.67% of minions slain by Senna ⇒ 8.33% of minions slain by Senna.

Trundle

Basic life, mana, and mana regeneration are rounded. W’s additional movement speed decreased.

Although we’ve taken some of the power away from Subjugating, Trundle is still the number one troll in competitive games. We reduce your mobility in the first levels in order to limit your ability to escape from tricky situations. We also rounded up some basic stats because those decimals are as ugly as he is.

Basic statistics

  • LIFE 616.28 ⇒ 616.
  • MANA 281.6 ⇒ 281.
  • MANA REGENERATION 7,508 ⇒ 7.5

W – Icy Kingdom

  • ADDITIONAL MOVEMENT SPEED 30/35/40/45/50% ⇒ 20/28/36/44/52%.

Varus

Base attack damage growth reduced. Q damage ratio reduced.

Varus’ lethality setting is outstripping his other options, especially in the professional scene. And overall, you’re ruining the experience of your competition. This item setup makes it very powerful at the start of the game, so we’re going to slow its progression so that it pays a higher cost in later stages.

Basic statistics

  • ATTACK DAMAGE GROWTH 3.11 ⇒ 3

Q – Piercing Arrow

  • DAMAGE RATIO 1.1 attack damage (max 1.65) ⇒ 1 attack damage (max 1.5).

Viktor

Increases the damage rate of the Q discharge. Increases the shield ratio.

We empower Viktor’s mid-range fighting ability so you don’t have to rely solely on your E to be effective.

Q – Power transfer

  • SHOCK DAMAGE RATIO 0.55 ability power ⇒ 0.6 ability power
  • SHIELD RATIO 0.15 ability power (0.24 ability power when empowered) ⇒ 0.2 ability power (0.32 ability power when empowered).

Volibear

Gameplay clarity improvements. Increase basic mana growth and life growth. Correction of Q errors and quality changes. W Bug Fix: Changes the duration of R’s turret kill, increases the damage radius of the epicenter, and increases base damage. General bug fixes.

Since its launch, Voli has performed poorly in the upper lane, especially at the highest levels of the game, and even after mid-version updates earlier in the week. Which in theory is fine, since the upper street is its secondary position against the main jungle, but the difference is too big right now.

These changes focus on improving the fluency of skill throws and satisfaction in play style, while providing some overall power. Now matching skills and playing better than the opponent should result in tangible success, such as eliminations, successful escape, etc.

general

  • IMPACT CRATERS Volibear’s E – Skybreaker and R – Storm Herald impact craters now disappear earlier.
  • VISUAL CLARITY IN THE GAME The visual clarity of several Volibear spells has been improved, including: W – Frenzy Rush, E – Skybreaker, and R – Herald of the Storm.
  • BEARS LOVE TO SING Fixed a bug that caused Volibear to hum too often.
  • EFFIGIES Volibear effigies are now available.

Basic statistics

  • MANA GROWTH 40 ⇒ 50
  • LIFE GROWTH 85 ⇒ 90

Q – Thunderous Impact

  • PROUD TO BE A BEAR The Thunderclap empowered attack with adversary control effects can no longer be interrupted once started.
  • ATTACK SPEED PROGRESSION Thunderclap’s empowered attack now progresses with attack speed.
  • RESET ERROR FIX Volibear’s Thunder Impact reboot no longer fails if re-cast quickly after interrupted.

W – Frenzy Rush

  • ERROR CANCELLATION OF ANIMATION ERROR Volibear will now automatically attack your target after canceling the Frenzy Rush and E – Skybreaker animations.
  • ATTACK ERROR FIX Volibear will now continue to attack its target even after casting Frenzy Rush on it.
  • BRAND VISUAL EFFECTS It is now bigger and better anchored to the target’s life bar.

R – Herald of the Storm

  • TURRET DEACTIVATION DURATION 2/4/6 s ⇒ 3/4/5 s.
  • EPICENTER RADIUS 250 ⇒ 300
  • BASE DAMAGE 250/475/700 ⇒ 300/500/700.
  • ATTACK ERROR FIX Fixed a bug that caused Volibear to automatically perform a basic attack on a target after landing with R – Herald of the Storm.
  • MODEL SIZE Decreased slightly.
  • VISUAL EFFECT FOR DEACTIVATED TURRETS Turrets deactivated by R – Herald of the Storm are now also much darker to highlight their status.

Xayah

R base damage increased.

Xayah has fallen from the top after dominating the professional scene for most of last season. Improved R damage to reward more aggressive plays. Go ahead, let the feathers fly!

R – Feather Storm

  • BASE DAMAGE 100/150/200 ⇒ 125/250/375.

Yasuo

Base life reduced. Increases the shield of your passive. W cooldown increased.

Yasuo is showing off on the lower street, but he is disappointing on the streets alone. We’re going to increase the cooldown of a spell that’s most effective on the lane below, while also improving the absorbency of your shield, since your enemies find it easier to harass in that position. We hope that these tweaks will reduce your power on the lower street so that you are less impacted on the streets alone.

Basic statistics

  • LIFE 523 ⇒ 490.

P – Path of the Wandering Soul

  • SHIELD ACTIVATION 100-510 (levels 1-18) ⇒ 115-525 (levels 1-18).

W – Wind wall

  • COOLDOWN 26/24/22/20/18 s ⇒ 30/27/24/21/18 s.

Runes

Approach speed

Speed of approach and Unbreakable are very little selected and their functionality is not very intuitive. The objective is to expand them so that more champions can use them, at the same time that we make them simpler; thus each rune will be better understood.

  • PASSIVE Grants 15% additional movement speed to allies with reduced movement or to enemies to whom you have applied some movement reduction ⇒ Grants 7.5% additional movement speed when moving to enemy champions with reduced movement. Increased to 15% if you are the one who has applied movement reduction (the maximum range of 1000 no longer exists for champions to whom you have applied opponent control).

Protective

Guardian is an ignored powerful key rune that is barely selected, even though it performs better than other key runes like Aery and Reverb in individual champions. We’re going to boost it, which will give players more autonomy when activating it, and to replace the movement speed improvement with additional shield power to sharpen its defensive properties. Overall, the goal for this key rune is for it to continue to have a similar level of power, despite the changes, but more refined in the sense that it is less frustrating and more reliable to use. It may be time to start using it!

  • LINK REACH 175 ⇒ 350
  • ACTIVATION CONDITION Any damage ⇒ 90-250 post-mitigation damage in the last 2.5 seconds or lethal damage.
  • SHIELD AMOUNT 70-150 ⇒ 80-200.
  • removedMOVEMENT SPEED 20% ⇒ No longer grants movement speed

Predator

Although the Predator idea is good on paper, the rune often loses sight of its prey because it has a complex launch paradigm and less than intuitive optimization. We are going to try to expand its use so that it changes from being a specific tool of a few jungles to being a standard initiation option.

  • COOLDOWN 150-100 s ⇒ 100-70 s
  • DAMAGE 60-180 (+0.4 bonus attack damage) (+0.25 ability power) ⇒ 30-90 (+0.2 bonus attack damage) (+0.1 ability power) .
  • I’M GOING! The active one is no longer disabled during the first 150 s of the game.
  • RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN Now at completion, Predator grants 45% additional movement speed when moving towards enemy champions within 3000 range, including enemy champions outside the field of view.
  • CHANNEL INTERRUPTING The active one is no longer interrupted if you cast an ability or enter combat (it still has a 1.5 second charge time for effect damage and full movement speed).
  • CHARLIE, IT HURTS Now Predator only deals damage and ends the hunt against enemy champions.
  • DURATION 15s ⇒ 10s

Taste of blood

  • Cooling indicator quality change.
  • INDICATOR The Blood Flavor icon on the player interface now displays while on cooldown.
  • Unbreakable and Zoom speed are very little selected and its functionality is not very intuitive. The objective is to expand them so that more champions can use them, at the same time that we make them simpler; thus each rune will be better understood.
  • PASSIVE Grants 10% slow resistance and 10% toughness for each summoner spell on cooldown, stacking up to 20%. Grants 15% slow resistance and 15% toughness for 10 sec when casting a summoner spell. ⇒ Grants 10% slow resistance and 10% toughness. Provides up to 20% more resistance to slowdown and toughness depending on your missing life.

Summoner spells

Ghostly

Ghostly has long been an unfeasible summoner spell for many champions. We added a bit of power to emphasize its strengths relative to other summoner spells through a prolonged mobility effect for those who use it aggressively.

  • GHOST ACCELERATION Phantasmal’s movement speed is now activated instantly.
  • MOVEMENT SPEED PROLONGATION WITH ELIMINATIONS Phantasmal bonus movement speed duration is now extended by 4-7 s (levels 1-18) when elimination is achieved.
  • MOVEMENT SPEED 28-45% (levels 1-18) ⇒ 20-40% (levels 1-18).
  • COOLDOWN 180 s ⇒ 210 s

Elemental terrain

We take the field further in the realm of gaming experience.

Hell terrain

  • Explosive pineapples have been added next to each triple weed near the gromp.
  • Explosive pineapples have been added next to the wolf camp.
  • Explosive pineapples have been added in front of each base door.
  • Explosive pineapples have been added to the holes in the side streets.

Cloud terrain

  • Fortune teller’s flowers have been added in front of each door in the base.
  • Fortune Teller’s flowers have been added in front of each triple weed in the river.
  • Cloud Terrain Speed Zones now grant 35% movement speed if not in combat against champions (up from 20% always).

Error correction

  • Clash team names, labels, and logos will now be displayed on the loading screen and in the game score table during Clash tournaments.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the loading screen edges to be inaccurate when queues were re-enabled.
  • Fixed a bug that caused Kled to lose movement speed much faster than expected when he stopped seeing enemies.

  • Mordekaiser no longer blocks the enemy’s Teleport summoner spell granted by the Spellbook (or any other summoner spell exchanged) for the rest of the game when he stops teleportation with his R – Realm of Death.
  • Fiddlesticks’ Q – Terror now properly activates and terrifies monsters when he uses his W – Plentiful Harvest against them.
  • When Aurelion Sol casts his Stellar Q-Nova via the minimap, he will now properly launch the start on the map target instead of the terrain directly below it (almost always the lower right corner).
  • Qiyana’s Weed-Powered Elemental Wrath now leaves an invisible trail when cast by reviving with Guardian Angel or Zilean’s R – Timewarp.
  • Kog’Maw’s Q – Caustic Slime description has been updated to accurately reflect its current state.
  • Braum’s R – Glacial Fissure visual effects are no longer out of sync when the ability is cast at 0 range.
  • Sion’s Q – Killing Impact now properly indicates that its total attack damage modifier is increased when cast.
  • Riven’s Q – Broken Wings tooltip has been corrected to remove increased attack speed.
  • Evelynn’s W – Thirst for Lust now works properly when launched against Baron Nashor at all skill levels and from any range.
  • Rengar’s R – Hunting Thrill no longer reduces turret armor.
  • Nidalee’s Q – Javelin now properly activates her Passive – Stalking when launched against Baron Nashor from any range.
  • The Passive – Ornn’s Living Forge no longer fails when the ally receiving the upgraded item dies while the missile’s effect is in the air.
