Sony has ruled out that the announcement for Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales was “misleading”. The title of Insomniac Games was one of the most famous names of the PS5 presentation event of this past June 11, but the confusion did not take long to come after the statements of a representative of the company who mistakenly said that it was going to be a remastering plus a DLC.
Then it was qualified by Insomniac Games and James Stevenson, communication manager of the Californian studio, who indicated that it will be a complete independent game based on the original title of 2018 released in 2018, Marvel’s Spider-Man. What is called a standalone game as they were already The Lost Legacy of Uncharted 4 or First Light of InFAMOUS: Second Son; a bridge title between the first and an eventual Spider-Man 2.

“I can safely say that we couldn’t effectively direct the next portion of the show with something that was trivial or misleading,” he says of the “new adventure” teaser for the Marvel’s Spider-Man universe, which practically opened the presentation. More surprising still was its release date, late 2020, so it will presumably accompany the launch of the console. The title will feature almost nonexistent loading times and visual improvements thanks to resources such as ray tracing. In addition, it will take advantage of the haptic feedback capabilities of the controller, the DualSense.

Although Sony has not entered to assess what exact games will accompany the launch of PS5 beyond Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales (end of 2020), they have promised that it will be the catalog of “biggest” output titles in all history from PlayStation. Some of the most famous names and those with the greatest media coverage of the presentation were, apart from it, names such as Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Gran Turismo 7, Demon’s Souls or Horizon: Forbidden West.
