Fortnite: Epic Games withdraws police cars

In what appears to be an act of solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement, Epic Games decides to withdraw the police cars from Fortnite Battle Royale.

Silently and without warning, Epic Games has removed police cars from Fortnite’s Battle Royale and Creative modes. Players have taken practically a week to figure this out, since Fortnite Chapter 2 Battle Pass Season 3 began. One possible reason is that it is an act of solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement. We tell you everything we know just below:

Fortnite recalls police cars

The American newspaper The Wall Street Journal was the first to report this, and many Reddit users also noticed this silent change. For its part, Epic Games has not commented on this.

The police cars in Fortnite are simply decorative elements of the stage; Players can only interact with them to destroy them and thus obtain metal, one of the resources necessary to build.

The change would have come with the start of the new season of Fortnite Battle Royale. With the map completely flooded, players were unaware of this subtle change. We leave you a practical example: before the change, in situations such as traffic accidents, there was always a police car nearby to block the road. After the change, there is no trace of this type of vehicle in this type of situation:

When there are road accidents on stage, there are often police cars nearby cutting the road. As you can see, there is no trace

Another more noticeable change is in Creative Mode. By using a crack grenade (an object that creates a portal in the sky through which scrap metal falls, and sometimes a police vehicle), we can see how when a police car is generated, it retains its appearance and textures when being in the sky, but, when touching the ground, it becomes a sedan:

From what we have seen for ourselves, the textures and models of the police vehicles are still in the game files as is; Epic Games has simply decided to replace these cars with other models:

For now, we do not know if this silent decision is about something final, or temporary. At Meristation we will inform you of any news in this regard.
