The studio has worked with Lucasfilm on all aspects of the game, so they have adhered to the rules that govern the Star Wars franchise.
That Jedi Star Wars: Fallen Order was not going to have dismemberments was something that was already known. As we publish on FreeGameTips, one of the main reasons they are not implemented is that it is a requirement of Disney. Lucasfilm wants to preserve these situations for very specific moments in his stories, something that Respawn Entertainment has highlighted again in new statements:
"With Jedi: Fallen Order we have followed the true Star Wars / Lucasfilm essence when it comes to dismemberment," says Aaron Contreras, head of the video game narrative, in an interview with The Verge. This modus operandi consists in using them "occasionally in great moments of history, but you don't see that it happens constantly to people".
The droids are a different thing, as their members separate from their body much more frequently. “We have worked throughout the development process together with Lucasfilm. This is something of Star Wars, it's how Star Wars treats dismemberments and lightsabers, so we're trying to be true to Lucasfilm's vision, ”he concludes.
The darkness settles in the galaxy
Although there are no dismemberments, the galaxy lives dark times. After more than 10 years as supreme chancellor of the Republic, Palpatine is uncovered as one of the Sith lords, who had operated in the heart of democracy to undermine it and achieve its objective, to establish itself as the sole and absolute ruler.
Using fear and repression, Darth Sidious moves quickly when Anakin Skywalker, in the end his new apprentice, unmasks him before the Jedi Order. However, Anakin's transition to the dark side is complete. The new emperor issues Order 66 and the troops, previously loyal to the Galactic Republic, turn against their former allies, the Jedi Knights.
Cal Kestis, the protagonist of the video game, manages to emerge gracefully from the fall of the Order and is forced to hide. Tired of fleeing, he decides to swing the lightsaber again and attack the troops of the new Galactic Empire.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will be released on November 15 on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
