It has long been known that IO Interactive is working on the next hitman game, which is likely to be 'HITMAN 3'. To drive development, support for the current 'HITMAN 2' will be cut back.

Although you will continue to expect minor updates, but from the perspective of new content, it will have been. In a statement, IO Interactive writes:

"After 13 months of full-time support and content for HITMAN 2 – at no extra cost (apart from what we've added through the Expansion Pass), we're now in a place where we're increasingly looking to the future. In fact, we're moving more and more HITMAN 2 team members to work on the next Hitman game, which is already in full swing.

This means that we expect the November update to bring the final big patch and release notes for HITMAN 2, while December will round out the year with the remaining new content for the game, including Escalation and an elusive target, as well as the permanent one Return of some seasonal content.

Our 2020 plans for HITMAN 2 live content are focused on adding Featured Contracts and introducing community-curated engagements into the game. In addition, we plan to re-activate the HITMAN 2 Elusive Targets so players can receive additional rewards and experience the Elusive Target missions they may have missed the first time. "

With the release of HITMAN 3 is expected to be the earliest in the next generation on the PS5 and Xbox Scarlett.
