QuakeCon 2020 canceled due to Covid-19 concerns

Playfront

QuakeCon will be completely canceled this year as Bethesda has some concerns about the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

The event in August would still be a bit over, but it is unclear how the situation will develop by then. This is particularly a shame, of course, since it would have been the 25th QuakeCon of all places, which will probably only be made up for next year.

A statement by Bethesda says:

“QuakeCon has always been a special event for us and for you – a time when we gather to play games and make connections that have existed for some for a quarter of a century. In the past few weeks, we have spent a lot of time discussing how we could get ahead with QuakeCon this year, especially given the event’s 25th anniversary. Given all the logistical challenges and uncertainties we are currently facing due to the COVID 19 pandemic, we made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s QuakeCon. The health and safety of our employees, sponsors and players will always be our top priority, and in those times it felt wrong to talk about a meeting if that’s exactly what each of us should do now. ”

Bethesda therefore hopes for your understanding and hopes to return with QuakeCon next year.
