Ubisoft takes steps to remove leaked gameplay from Assassin's Creed Valhalla

A video of about half an hour has come to light, but the French company is trying to nip it in the bud.

Within days of the Ubisoft Forward online event, the French company has had to face a major leak: an Assassin’s Creed Valhalla gameplay has been released without the company’s permission. According to Eurogamer reports, the French have already begun to maneuver to remove all leaked footage. Some videos have already disappeared, although as usual in these cases, the copies are played at high speed.

So far, Ubisoft has not officially shown any gameplay for the video game. It was said that it would be done during the presentation of Xbox Series X games, but that translated into just a few seconds of ingame sequence. Instead, in the leaked video, you can see the female version of Eivor for the first time, as well as gameplay that is largely reminiscent of the one we enjoyed in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. All in all, it is a build in development, so it is unknown to what extent it will be faithful to the final result.

Capsized at Ubisoft Montreal

The past few weeks have not been joyful for Ubisoft Montreal, nor for the company in particular. Shortly after people in the industry revealed their experiences of sexual harassment and abuse, it emerged that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla creative director Ashraf Ismail had engaged in inappropriate behavior. In this circumstance, Ismail himself announced that he was departing from the direction of the project. At the same time, other complaints were raised within the company.

Ubisoft’s response to this whole issue has been clear. Yves Guillemot, CEO of the company, has ordered an internal investigation. Two of the prominent members of the editorial team, Maxime Béland and Tommy François, have been charged and are under scrutiny by the company. In fact, Béland has already resigned from his post, while François has been officially suspended while investigating. Guillemot has promised structural change and has already taken steps to change Ubisoft’s internal culture.
