GTA V and the philosopher's stone: 115 million units sold

Take-Two Interactive updates the sales of GTA 5, Red Dead Redemption 2 and Borderlands 3, which ship large quantities.

Take-Two Interactive has published its latest financial report for the second quarter of this fiscal year (Q2 / FY2019-20), a document that shows that the company's main video games continue to sell as if time does not pass over them. Notably, GTA V has already exceeded 115 million units sold; 5 million copies during the last six months.

GTA 5 plays in another league; Red Dead Redemption 2 reaches 26 million

Because the Grand Theft Auto effect does not turn off. Its availability on PS3, Xbox 360, PS4, Xbox One and PC, driven and maintained by the inexhaustible GTA Online, once again become the main economic support of the Rockstar parent company, which has reported net income in the report of 859 million dollars (74% more than in the previous year); meanwhile, net reserves remain at 950 million dollars (63% more than last year).

It should be added that 73% of revenues correspond to the digital market, the highest ratio of this type of distribution in the entire history of the company.

If we keep citing games we find Borderlands 3, which has already shipped 7 million units, two more than the 5 million copies sold in its first week. A long distance away is the also successful Red Dead Redemption 2, which has already sold 26.5 million units. It should be added that this document does not yet contemplate the units sold on PC, where it is available since this November 5. Touch wait for the next quarter to know your initial sales.

Strauss Zelnick, CEO of the American giant, has made a positive balance of the results in the meeting with the group of shareholders. For him, it is important that the aforementioned games continue to maintain a stable and gaming character as a service, because that is how they will ensure their long-term availability. Zelnick assumes that it will be a difficult year and they already think about how they can adapt the transition of their community to the next generation of consoles, which starts at Christmas 2020.
