Hideo Kojima's new work does not get rid of the controversy, and not only because of its playability, very different from other video games on the market. Death Stranding includes an in-game interview (as a document) that has been criticized for its content, as it defines asexuality as "a lifestyle without sex." This is linked to the birth rate, lower and lower in the United States of Kojima. The title of the interview, "An asexual world" is already suggestive in itself, but the content suggests something else, which has increased the popularity of avoiding sex.
Given that asexuality is not a lifestyle that the person can select to their liking – as neither is heterosexuality, homosexuality, bisexuality, etc.), Death Stranding's definition is closer to that of celibacy or voluntary abstinence from sex. It is not, therefore, a sexual orientation.
“A large percentage of all young people identify themselves as asexual,” says the document. “They ensure that they are unable to feel desire or attraction. Therefore, these people are more reluctant to have children or to have sex. ” In Death Stranding, the evil that spreads throughout the world "accelerates the proliferation of these sexualities," which ends up causing a lack of emotional connections with other people. In a Reddit post, many users have not hesitated to question the content of this document: "It is worse than I expected," says one. “I intended to play the game. Not anymore, ”concludes another.

A game that polarizes
