The Witcher redesigns Nilfgaard's armor in season 2

It was one of the most criticized elements of the first season of the Netflix series, but those responsible have taken note.

Nilfgaard’s armor has a rough texture in the first season of Netflix’s The Witcher, a production that premiered in December 2019 and has become one of the most successful fictions on the platform. However, since the armor was first made public, criticism of the design of this particular piece has never raged. Redanian Intelligence has collected a series of photographs by Terry Blackburn (The Daily Mail), in which it can be seen that the design has completely changed.

The armors are completely different from the previous design and show a more metallic and traditional look. Lauren S. Hissrich, the showrunner of the series, already dropped that the wardrobe of Nilfgaard’s army would evolve season by season. “Unlike the army of Cintra, which is made up of knights and specialized soldiers under the royal command of Calanthe, the army of Nilfgaard” is made up of recruited warriors.

Therefore, it is not “an elite force yet”. He added the following words: “As in the story, we try to start from the beginning and then leave room for change, to breathe and grow them to their final form.” The change, however, does not seem progressive, but rather drastic. The armors in the photos bear no resemblance to the originals from Season 1.

Season 2 premieres in 2021

Netflix’s The Witcher continues with a second season that is still in full swing. The coronavirus forced production to stop for a few months, so the recording will last until early 2021. It is in that year when the premiere is scheduled, although a more specific date has not been specified. It is unknown if recent events have moved its premiere throughout the year.

Netflix has given the green light to two other projects based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s worlds. The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf will be an anime film starring a young Vesemir, while The Witcher: Blood Origin will be set 1000 years before the original stories.
