Red Dead Redemption 2 is updated on PC to solve the error linked to the framerate

Users detected that the passage of time was faster or slower depending on the rate of images per second.

The Wild West of Red Dead Redemption 2 was experienced differently on consoles and PCs. At least until now, because Rockstar Games has published a new patch that solves one of the most commented errors of the last days. As in Dark Souls 2, some users had perceived that the cycle of day and night, as well as atmospheric phenomena, lasted less time in the compatible version. This problem, linked to framerate, also affected the health status of Arthur Morgan, protagonist of the game.

This was so because the character has certain attributes that change depending on food and other aspects, so that an anomalous operation of these mechanics may result in the protagonist losing an excessive weight in a very short time, for example. If Morgan does not play sports, it will take time to gain weight, something that affects stamina and, therefore, its performance.

It affects Story Mode and Red Dead Online

Rockstar Games did not officially admit that the problem was present in Red Dead Redemption 2, but the American developer has taken silent note and confirmed that the new patch, now available, corrects the problem. At least that is indicated by the patch notes:

  • Improvements in terms of the problem that affects the characteristics of the characters, which go down faster than normal in Story Mode when the game works with a higher frame rate.
  • The problem that resulted in faster than normal weight loss in Red Dead Online is improved when the game runs at a higher frame rate.

The update also focuses on other additional problems, such as an error that caused the mouse cursor to appear continuously when starting the game in the Epic Games Store or some crashes.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available since October 2018 on PS4 and Xbox One. Later, in November 2019, Rockstar Games published it on PC (official launcher and Epic Games Store) and Google Stadia. The Steam version will arrive in December.
