Streets of Rage composer explores crowdfunding to create new soundtracks

Yuzo Koshiro drops that possibility on Twitter, but asks his followers if they would like him to follow that path.

Campaigns on platforms like Kickstarter have become fashionable. Crowdfunding has turned out to be a very effective mechanism to carry out certain projects, although there have also been some problems: products that never come out or that when they do, do not meet the expectations of the patrons. Be that as it may, Yuzo Koshiro, the legendary composer of Streets of Rage, Streets of Rage 2 and 3 (and of the fourth installment), contemplates the possibility that his next soundtracks go ahead through crowfunding.

The musician has tested the followers on his official Twitter account, which by the way, already shows the blue tick that indicates the verification of his account. “I’ve been considering creating some crowdfunding soundtracks this year,” he writes. “With the verification from Twitter that I received today, I would proceed smoothly and with confidence. Would you be interested in it? I’ll announce it when I decide ”. In a second tweet he also added that he is thinking of several albums. “I would like the first one to be something with music with FM synthesis.”

Return of the Classics: Streets of Rage 4

DotEmu has become a benchmark studio when it comes to resurrecting timeless classics. After Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap, the French company went directly to SEGA to present a new proposal to resurrect one of the best beat ’em up sagas. The result is that the Japanese gave the green light and Streets of Rage 4 was released to critical success. The composers of the classics, Yuzo Koshiro himself and Motohiro Kawashima, returned to cover the sprites with their music.

At the moment Streets of Rage 5 has not been announced, but a new game from another title from the past has been announced. The Ninja Turtles will return to consoles and PC with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, another beat ’em up that promises action in abundance for up to four players.
