In order to deliver at the holy grail of the PS5, the SSD memory, after that also what one promises already now full-bodied, Sony brings itself obviously one of the market leaders in the segment with the boat.
So maybe Samsung will provide the appropriate hardware, as you can see hints from the recent Samsung SSD Conference. There, the Koreans talked about their next-gen technology and a new series of their SSD memory.
Senior Managing Director, Han Jinman, commented on Non-Volatile Memory Express SSDs, which will be used in gaming PCs and consumer gaming consoles from 2020 onwards. In a related graphic was also the DualShock controller and the game Monster Hunter World to see the loading speed demonstrated. Compared to a conventional HDD you could reduce the load times to less than a third.
Whether Sony will actually put Samsung on the SSD, of course, still needs to be confirmed. So far, HDDs have been used by Seagate or No Name manufacturers, while Samsung is unlikely to be the cheapest choice.
The PS5 will be available towards the end of 2020.
