Kojima on Death Stranding 2: “We would start from scratch”

The Japanese developer briefly mentions the possibility of a sequel, although for the moment hypothetically.

What will be the next project of Kojima Productions? Will we witness the desired terror title with the Hideo Kojima brand? Will they work on something completely new or opt for a Death Stranding sequel? At the moment, they are all issues without any certainty. The creative has not revealed what he is working on, but he has left some thoughts on a hypothetical Death Stranding 2.

In an interview with Vulture, the Japanese developer has put on the table the possibility of returning to work with Norman Reedus, protagonist of his most recent work. As he says, it may be a possible sequel, although if he did, he explains, "it would start from scratch." Without further details, the Japanese has simply remembered how his friendship relationship was forged with the actor, who plays Sam Porter Bridges. Reedus invited Kojima to dinner, at which point, the interpreter's cat entered the room, stopped and vomited. At that point in the interview, Kojima burst out laughing, according to Vulture.

Japan releases Death Stranding novels

They are not available in Europe, but Japanese readers have the possibility to enjoy a novel version of the video game. The writing is in charge of Kenji Yano, one of the writers of the original work. As in the game, we follow in the footsteps of Sam Porter Bridges, a man who travels through a United States eroded by a corruption that does not stop. In addition to delivering goods without stopping, the man will have to overcome all kinds of dangers to reconnect each of the points on the map. Its asynchronous multiplayer also allows us to help other players, a facet that is complemented by a Me Like system very similar to that of today's social networks.

Death Stranding is available on PlayStation 4 since last November. The title, announced from the beginning as a console exclusive, will be released on PC in early summer 2020. It will be done by 505 Games, as announced by Kojima Productions shortly after the launch of the video game. It will be the first time that the Decima engine, owned by Guerrilla Games and Sony, appears on a platform outside the Japanese company. The game will be updated shortly to allow larger subtitles.
