The Xbox Series X GPU is eight times more powerful than the Xbox One

First technical details of the new Microsoft console and its new command, with which the company intends to be the most powerful in the sector.

Goodbye Project Scarlett. The new Microsoft console already has a name and surname. This is Xbox Series X, in which we have been able to take a first look during The Game Awards 2019. A platform that will arrive at Christmas of 2020 and which Phil Spencer has already spoken in an interview for GameSpot magazine, where he says who wanted "a considerable improvement over the original Xbox One." These were the words of the head of the Xbox division about it: "When we do the accounts, we are eight times above the power of the Xbox One GPU and it is twice that of the Xbox One X (the latter with 6 teraflops) ".

Although many details remain to be specified, Phil Spencer explains in the interview that the console will carry a custom CPU based on AMD's Zen 2 and Radeon RDNA architecture. Microsoft will also use an NVME SSD hard drive with which it intends to significantly cut load times and, as a whole, aims to offer support for 8K resolutions, rates of 120 images per second, ray tracing and 120 Hz. The first sample of its potential seems to be offered by one of the gala's ads, Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, whose shocking trailer is, according to Spencer, captured with the game's own engine running on the console in real time. Phil was especially pleased with the push given to the CPU: "We want four times the processing power of Xbox One X in the most silent and efficient way possible."

Lead again in power and performance

The Xbox Series X announcement has been accompanied by a new wireless controller, whose shape and size "has been refined to accommodate an even wider range of people." Very similar to the current design level, its greatest novelty lies in a "new Share button that simplifies screen capture and game clips." It is slightly smaller, keeps the vibration in the triggers and will also serve for PC and Xbox One. "Our goal has always been to build the most powerful console we could and I think we are there. We like to lead at the level of power and performance and I feel that we will be there again, "concludes Phil Spencer on the console.
