CD Projekt RED and Netflix are based on the same novels, but the two products follow independent paths.
Netflix will premiere on December 20 its series based on The Witcher, the work of Andrzej Sapkowski, the author of the homonymous novels. Fiction will not be related to any of the deliveries developed by CD Projekt RED, the Polish studio that brought the saga to video games. With The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the developer managed to conquer the market and offer one of the most successful role-playing games of recent years.
Although both projects are set in the same world and starring the same characters, the on-screen representation is different. Geralt de Rivia, Yennefer de Vandenberg, Ciri and Triss Merigold. The cast consists of Henry Cavill, Anya Chalotra, Freya Allen and Anna Shaffer. Another important character, Jaskier, has not yet appeared in any official fiction image.
Geralt de Rivia, the monster hunter sorcerer
Becoming a sorcerer is not a simple task, since candidates must pass a test and take a concoction that can prove deadly. In case of success, they acquire new powers, which serve them for the difficult missions that will lie ahead. Geralt de Rivia fights against monsters and hunts them, but always under contract, since that is his job. On the back of Sardinilla, the warrior travels the world and flies his sword against the most fearsome creatures in the world.
Yennefer of Vandenberg, the powerful sorceress
Who would say that a girl rejected by her father, humpbacked, of difficult childhood, would become a sorcery of immense power? That is Yennefer de Vandenberg, a creature of magic who will meet Geralt de Rivia, with whom he will maintain a very intense relationship. In that love triangle comes into play Triss Merigold, another sorceress, once a friend of Yennefer. However, Geralt's interest in women will trigger a storm of jealousy.

Known as the sorceress of Maribol, the break between Yennefer and Geralt encouraged her to try to make her love come true. He is a cheerful character, with an easy laugh, who nevertheless fails to make the wizard fall in love, who feels affection for her, but not love. For a period of time, she will become the mentor of Ciri, another of the great characters in the universe of The Witcher. Not surprisingly, for Ciri she is like an older sister.
Ciri, an ancient princess
She was the princess of Cintra, but her destiny led her to meet in the way of Geralt de Rivia. It happened in the Brokilón forest, since it was fleeing the dryads. From then on, he will live all kinds of adventures, some quite unpleasant, such as his kidnapping after the Cintra massacre. The girl, who possessed gifts for magic, will polish her power from the hand of two of the most powerful sorceresses, Yennefer and Triss Merigold.
The Witcher of Netflix will debut with a first season of eight episodes. The saga will continue throughout a second season, although the showrunner, Lauren S. Hissrich, has stated that she has planned about seven seasons for the future. As for video games, CD Projekt RED has dropped the possibility of continuing with the franchise. However, nothing has been announced yet.
