Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3 has unveiled Extraction Gizmos, letting players extract sprites from any point on the island instead of racing to designated sites.
What Extraction Gizmos Are
Extraction Gizmos are single‑use items that replace your pickaxe in the weapon slot once loaded from the Battle Bus. They do not trade, can’t be dropped, and delete only when the match ends.
- Portable Extractor – summons a temporary extraction point at the player’s location.
- Lucky Locator – (scheduled for later in the season) pinpoints a buried sprite chest.
- Extraction Site Booster – (also coming later) drops a crate that elevates the level of any sprite extracted nearby.
At present only the Portable Extractor is available; the Lucky Locator and Extraction Site Booster will appear as the season progresses.
Using the Portable Extractor In‑Game
Follow these steps to turn any screen into a sprite extraction hub:
- Locate a sprite through chests, floor loot, or sprite chests on the map.
- Equip the sprite into your active slot.
- Load the Portable Extractor into the pickaxe position (Y/Triangle + L on controller; L on PC).
- Wait five seconds while the extraction animation runs.
During the five‑second window you are exposed to enemy fire, so avoid confrontation before completing the extraction.
Obtaining More Gizmos
Extraction Gizmos can be earned by mastering sprites or bought with sprite dust at extraction sites.
- Serially extract sprites to Max Level 5 and advance the Sprite Mastery track; each level provides additional gizmos.
- After a successful extraction, surplus dust can be exchanged at Sprite Dust Services found at every extraction site, granting an extra Portable Extractor for your inventory.
Inventory Persistence and Gameplay Impact
Gizmos stay in your roster throughout the season across all matches, so you can build a “toolkit” of extraction options. They cannot be traded, and elimination does not remove them from your bag.
Epic Games will reveal further gizmo types as Season 3 continues; for now, mastering the Portable Extractor is the quickest path to sprite dominance.
