Cadillac’s lead climbs
On Wednesday, Taylor’s Wayne Taylor Racing entry #101 eclipsed the Test Day record set by Aston Martin (3 min 26.293 s). He rapidly pushed the figure to 3 min 25.673 s, then to 3 min 24.773 s before breaking ground again with 3 min 23.786 s. Cadillac’s sister Jota‑run #38 followed closely, with Earl Bamber recording a 3 min 25.673 s benchmark which he later lowered to 3 min 24.773 s and finally 3 min 23.786 s.
BMW stayed within two seconds of the lead, with Rene Rast driving the #20 entry in 3 min 25.533 s. A brake‑pedal glitch forced Will Stevens in the #12 machine to slow to 3 min 26.033 s.
Alpine, Toyota, Ferrari and Peugeot chase
Alpine’s #35 car, floored by Ferdinand Habsburg, surged to fifth last lap, completing a 3 min 26.078 s lap. The car trailed the Toyota by 0.4 s, the #8 Toyota and the #007 Aston Martin not improving over Test Day, while the #50 Ferrari and #009 Aston Martin were fixed at 3 min 26.078 s. Peugeot lagged 3.2 seconds behind Cadillac, 0.9 s behind Alpine and 0.4 s behind Genesis.
Incidents on the circuit
The session saw disruptions across the Hypercar ceiling. Yifei Ye lost control of Ferrari’s #83 vehicle entering Mulsanne, returning safely to the pits. Veteran Frederic Makowiecki collapsed wide into the wall at the Tertre Rouge approach, causing the #36 Alpine to stall. In LMP2, the first sector saw the #37 CLX Motorsport, #4 APR, #9 Proton and #183 AF Corsète виховав entramps, while the #14 TDS and #99 AO by TF spun out at Raccordement.
LMP2 and GT3 follow
