Andrzej Sapkowski, writer of the books, and the Polish studio sign a new agreement that gives CD Projekt full control of the franchise.
The same day that The Witcher's series, starring Henry Cavill, arrives on Netflix, CD Projekt has announced a new deal with Andrzej Sapkowski, the writer of the Sorcerer's novels. Under this new contract, the Polish studio has full control over the future of the saga in terms of video games, graphic novels, board games and merchandising.
"We have always admired the work of Mr. Andrzej Sapkowski’, a great inspiration for us on CD Projekt Red "said Adam Kicinski, president of the studio. "I hope that today marks a new beginning in our continued relationship."
Obviously this new agreement leaves the doors open to a fourth installment of The Witcher, although since CD Projekt they have insisted on numerous occasions that not only is it not in development, but that the day it becomes, it is more than likely that its protagonist not even Geralt de Rivia. At the moment, the study based in Warsaw is completely focused on the development of Cyberpunk 2077, its next and expected RPG that will arrive in spring 2020.
