Sonoma Raceway has etched the black No. 8 onto its asphalt and unveiled a new banner at Turn 8 in honor of the late Kyle Busch, following his sudden passing at age 41.
In addition to the track markings, Busch’s portrait has joined the circuit’s Wall of Fame, standing between Jimmie Johnson and Kevin Harvick as the 31st inductee. The induction was officially recorded for Sunday, June 27, marking a formal moment of remembrance for the racing community.
Busch’s Legacy on the Track
Busch’s triumphs at Sonoma include Cup victories in 2008 and 2015, as well as the sole Truck Series win held there this century, achieved in 2022. Motorsport.com has surveyed and ranked his most memorable drives at the venue, a list that can be accessed here.
Key Honors at Sonoma
Beyond the physical tributes, the track’s governing body has committed to preserving Busch’s achievements by integrating him into the overall heritage narrative of Sonoma Raceway. The Black No. 8 and Turn 8 banner serve as visual reminders for future generations of the high‑level performance this driver brought to the road course.
