Ai Ogura has slipped into second place on the MotoGP points leaderboard after the 2024 German Grand Prix.
The 25‑year‑old has finished every race in the top four since the Italian GP in May, with a victory at Assen breaking the streak.
Strength Highlights
At the Sachsenring, Ogura climbed from fourth to second, trailing only factory rider Jorge Aprilia by 14 points.
Martin, the reigning Moto2 champion, currently trails Ogura’s scoring rate, underscoring the Japanese’s progress.
Contender Confirmation
When asked if he is a true championship contender, Ogura replied, “I mean, yeah, for sure. We’re in a good position and have been strong in the last three races.”
Mid‑Season Outlook
He said the field will shift as race conditions vary, adding that “the guys who are fast on a given circuit change, and it’s tough to manage.”
Ogura plans to spend summer riding and fishing, aiming to return to the paddock “neutral as possible.”
The German GP result cemented Ogura’s status as a serious championship threat, and the remainder of the season will test whether he can maintain his momentum.
