Xbox Expands Backward Compatibility to PC and Handheld Devices

Xbox Backward compatibility games

Xbox announces that its brand new Backward Compatibility on PC begins today, instantly offering four classic titles to a wider player base.

Games Now Available Through the PC Feature

Players can purchase or add to their Game Pass library the original releases of BLiNX: The Time Sweeper, Conker: Live and Reloaded, Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge and Fuzion Frenzy. All are playable on Windows 11‑based desktops and on the ROG Xbox Ally handheld family, and they will also appear in the Xbox Cloud Gaming catalogue.

New Customisation Options

Each title boasts a selection of modern graphical and audio options. Players can upscale scenes to up to 4× the native resolution, toggle VSync, switch between fullscreen and windowed modes, apply anisotropic filtering and enhanced anti‑aliasing, and adjust language or audio cutting to their preference. Achievements for the four launches will also be unlocked sometime later this year.

Hardware Requirements

To run the backward‑compatible titles, users must meet the minimum specification set by Xbox:

  • GPU: Nvidia GTX 950, AMD RX 550, Intel UHD 770 or Intel Arc A310
  • CPU: 4‑core Intel Core i3‑8100, AMD Ryzen 3 1200, or AMD Ryzen Z2 A Processor
  • RAM: 8 GB
  • OS: Windows 11 with the latest drivers (January 2026)

Recommended for a more stable experience:

  • GPU: Radeon RX 6800 XT, Nvidia GTX 1070 Ti, or Intel Arc A770
  • CPU: 6‑core, 12‑thread Intel Core i5‑10400 or AMD Ryzen 5 3600, or AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme
  • DirectX: DirectX 12 API, Feature Level 11
  • VRAM: 8 GB
  • OS/Drivers: Same as minimum, updated to January 2026

With newer titles set to follow, Xbox’s reverse‑engineered step restores the legacy of its early gaming era while bolstering a current, lean platform amid recent cost‑cutting moves.
